Ok. wait. thumbs up!

Ok. wow. Obviously my post below is about Primark's menswear but I couldn't leave the website without browsing their women's wear info as well and just take a look at some of these images! Very Topshop-esque and their swimwear shots, looking GOOD, they remind me of a Diesel-ish advert.

hallelujah!

FINALLY, I can actually write something about Primark's menswear with pride! The initial reason I decided to make a new men's fashion weekly magazine was due to my other idea being re-branding Primark men's wear. The first hurdle I came across with this idea is where would I advertise my new men's wear, what magazines? My answer being, I could not come up with one! Thus my idea to design a new men's magazine for high street fashion. So, when doing a little Primark research I stumbled across their website, which has changed a lot since I last looked at it! I was happily surprised to see some images of models wearing their clothes on it, I can imagine these being their advertising campaign and I would happily feature them in my magazine.

Neons.

More Topman research led me to the new trend they are pushing this season, Neon's. I remember last year when doing a Topman project, coming across the bright neon suit collections of Calvin Klein and once again the bright colours are back this year. Bright colours always get us in the mood for summer! And I can definitely see this photo shoot being in my magazine, I may just steal it and pop it in! I like the contrast of neon backgrounds with black and white image and then some pictures in full colour, the clothes being the bright neon element.

Remember Me.

I can't last long without blogging about Robert Pattinson. I cannot WAIT for Remember Me to be released on 2nd April. I will be there at the front of the cinema queue asking for my ticket, obviously with some tissues in tow, just in case! I will be sure to give you a review of what I thought of it!

Topman LTD.

'The first batch of Topman LTD for 2010 has arrived at long last. Refresh your wardrobe with a touch of sophistication - look out for a celebration of all things denim.'
Not only do I really like the clothes featured in these Topman LTD collection, but I also love the layout of them. I like the larger picture versus the snapshot pictures of small details that they want to expose. I can imagine these images as a photo shoot within my magazine.

ASOS inspires.

So it's back down to work and while I was sifting through many emails I came across this recent style email from asos, not only do I receive female style tips but also males too. This recent one for Easter style tips and top buys really appeals to me. The layout is simple yet effective and articles that are included are ones that I could see definitely being in my magazine. I would like to re-create this sort of feel and look for my magazine definitely!

Adreneline Rush.

My estranged other half is travelling Australia at the moment and did a sky dive from 14000 ft! I love the use of a fish eye camera for these pics! I'm thinking of including these images in my magazine for an adventure article or something! Crazzzzyyyy boy.

Library help.

Getting books out of the library is helping me understand layout and colour theory ideas. I will be looking into secondary research further for the power of the front cover, contents page layouts, text vs image and colour theory practice, into what colours obtain what feelings. Here are a few images I scanned in that grabbed my attention.

Man About Town.

While doing a little research on magforum.com I came across Man About Town, a bi-annual journal for men, backed by Dragon's Den Peter Jones. I am envious of their compositional elements used throughout the magazine, especially this editorial with Hayden Christensen.

Let's all have a gossip!

The return of Gossip Girl on ITV2 on Wednesday evenings is what keeps me going throughout the week. Me and my friend have been anticipating the wait of this series continuing and it has finally arrived! I have always been a Chuck fan from the beginning and now he returns to our screens! He really takes my fancy.

A Snapshot.

Here is a snapshot mood board I created for my project a while back, picking on inspirational mags I liked such as Nylon guys and layout compositional elements or picture ideas that tickled my fancy.

Team Edward.

After blogging about Robert Pattinson, he stays in my mind. I am an avid Twilight fan having read all the books and definitely a member of Team Edward, even if for a while I did move to Team Jacob, it wasn't for long! I pretty much cried at the fact when I had finished the last ever book, only taking me about a week to read it. Yes, I didn't have a great social life for that week. I cannot wait for Eclipse, the next movie, to come out. I am literally waiting on the edge of my seat, about to fall off. Look for the trailer that excites me to the CORE!

I NEED one of these t-shirts.

Send in the girls.

The hardest thing about thinking of cover girls for the mag, is trying to set them in a non-pornographic setting. Images of cover women are either for high fashion women's magazines or for low lads magazines. The balance between to two is the main element I am struggling with. I need the female cover star to still have an air of enticement around her. However, below are the first few ladies that entered my mind.....
Blake Lively

Cheryl Cole
Rihanna
