You can tell a lot from a man's shoes.

I've always thought you can tell a lot about a person from the shoes they wear. So I came across Tommy Ton's style blog for GQ, who went around New York and London Fashion Week, in Feb 2010 and took photo's of men with style. This is the type of article that would fit in the magazine, a trend article from the street, who's wearing what. I really like the idea of focusing on one type of product, i.e. shoes. Here are some pictures from Tommy Ton.

The Face.

Reading a few more books today, for more research purposes, and one wrote about The Face magazine back in the 1980s. I hadn't heard of this magazine before so I decided to have a browse over it and their covers are always so different but so good! Here are a few of my faves.

Derelict.

These are some images of the derelict building (thanks to Sedge) that we will be shooting at on Tues 4th. We will be starting in a bar called CocoTang which is an underground bar so has lots of pipes in the ceiling and brick work etc, which will look lush, along with thinking of a way to try and get the Harley into the bar! And then onto the building for real down and dirty grunge shots.

Smokin'

Here is another shoot from Inked magazine that grabbed my attention, with a girl called Kathryn Butler. I think this shows just how sexy tattoos can be.

Ink me up.

Ok so, the shoot date has been confirmed 4th May. And in spirit of Adam and Drews tattoo sleeves I've been browsing at Inked magazine and stumbled across some shoots which love isn't a word to describe them. I have two tattoos and I'm always wanting more! If I was a boy I would definitely be covered in them, but as a petite girl I don't think I could pull them off. Plus mother banned me from getting anymore. (Not that she even noticed the others ones I got!) I've wanted something in Arabic for ages, so maybe just maybe I'll get a new addition soon.

Motorcycle.

Ok so for the rock inspired shoot, Sedge has managed to bag us a Harley Davidson motorbike to work with. AMAZING! Also, the two guy models Adam and Drew have tattoos to die for! All in all I'm super excited, however, the date of the shoot maybe next Tuesday 27th which is scary! So much to do so little time but I can't wait.

Shoot inspirations.

Here are some inspirational images that I found whilst browsing today. For the indoor studio shoot I want simplicity so with the one back drop, one model and wearing simple clothes, maybe an essence of tailoring. The first images are Topman Ltd, I chose them as inspirations because of the clothes themselves and I love the model's poses. I then decided that maybe the shoot should be more spring/summer looking as that is the season we are in now and so found these images on ASOS website. I love them because of the whole light feel surrounding the images and also because of the summer clothing involved, yet they are still simple and classic pieces like blazers and shirts. Choices, choices! Sources: www.topman.com & www.asos.com

Plan, plan, plan.

Today I am having a planning panic attack. Firstly, trying to organise my social life and stuff for my 21st birthday and then more importantly trying to plan and organise some photoshoots for the magazine! First off I was just going to steal photoshoots from other magazines for my mag but why the hell not try and do my own! My friend Sedge is an aspiring stylist and trying to build up her portfolio of shoots; luckily she wants to do a shoot with male models as she has only done ones with the female kind so far, so what a perfect way to hit 2 birds with 1 stone! So we are planning on doing two photoshoots together that she can have in her portfolio and also for my magazine! The first is going to be a standard photoshoot in a studio with one male model, plain background and plain, classic clothes with an essence of tailoring. The next is going to be a rock inspired shoot, hopefully shot in a derelict building, with 2 male models and a sexy female thrown in there to mix it up a bit! So we are planning away with the models; Sedge has managed to bag two guys and a girl for the rock inspired shoot already, we are planning superheroes; and then I'm going to rope my flat mate Benjamin Thomas Wheeler into taking the photographs as he is a photography student. The fun bit I am most looking forward to is going shopping for all the clothes that will be featured in the shoots, shopping heaven! All the clothes will be sourced from highstreet stores as to keep in line with the magazines highstreet fashion essence.
Here is Sedge's blog to look up her stuff http://bloggersedge.blogspot.com/
And Ben's Flickr to have a browse at his skills, http://www.flickr.com/photos/benjaminthomaswheeler
I shall keep you posted on this whole shinanigans!

A love affair.

I watched Dear John the other night and well I pretty much sobbed through-out. A great movie, although I would have liked the lovey dovey couple to have spent more time in contact with each other, through out the movie, rather than being separated and revolving their lives around letters, some raunchy love would have been appreciated. But all in all, Channing Tatum in any movie is a must see! And me being a person who is not good at saying goodbyes, brought a tear to my eye many a time in the movie! I am also reading The Time Travellers Wife at the moment and these two things are making me want to be part of a real love, whirl wind romance. Not fair!

Photoshoots. (four)

I found these images on the Dazed and Confused website and for a high fashion magazine I find these images very mainstream, which is why I love them! They are a tad quirky but not too much to elimate them from maybe appearing in the mag.

Launch party.

So obviously for a launch of a magazine you need a party! My ideas for this are very out there seeing as I'm not technically with a publishers I'm just going for it and ignoring the whole concept of budget! The first idea I had was that as the magazine is publishing high-street fashion only and giving their menswear a new platform; a fashion show is essential, so one or a couple of fashion brands would showcase their high-street offerings in a 3D fashion show. 3D is becoming the new big thing with pretty much every movie now having a 3D option and even football matches being available to watch in 3D. I took inspiration from the Gorillaz who a long while back did a 3D performance with Madonna. She was real, Gorillaz were all holograms. Burberry were the first to do a 3D fashion show at London Fashion Week in Feb this year where there was a live fashion show, but you could watch it in 3D in various countries around the world. I love this idea of adding fashion to the technological world! As well as a fashion show, I want to turn the launch into a party afterwards, a small music gig! by hopefully getting someone like Topman Ctrl to sponsor the whole event. Once press have all been introduced to the new mag then the public, i.e. target consumers can come and party it up attire style with performances from some chart toppers.
